Each of the three degree programs—B.A. (Music), B.Mus., and B.Mus.Ed—requires all students to take one year of Keyboard Harmony (Music 116 and Music 216). This is normally taken in the second year, but, because one of the prerequisites is the successful completion of a keyboard proficiency test, it requires a certain amount of preparation in the first year. In order to assist in this preparation, The Music Department offers a non-credit Keyboard Proficiency course that is taught over two semesters. Students may, however, opt to find a private instructor.
Please be sure to review the Keyboard Proficiency Policy, which specifies the technical requirements that must be met before a student is permitted to enrol in Music 116.
